Tra i modelli evolutivi che ipotizzano un'mwcworigine euroasiatica dell'uomo (la scoperta di mwdamwdqAnoiapithecus brevirostris e di altri fossili in Eurasia e nell'Europa del Sudcite-ref-1[1], secondo alcuni paleoantropologi, indica che l'evoluzione dell'antenato comune grandi scimmie/uomo sia avvenuto lì anziché in Africacite-ref-2[2]) considerano il Griphopithecus l'antenato comune dell'uomo, scimpanzé, gorilla, orangutan e gibboni.cite-ref-3[3]
